The Magnificent Royal Python
Python regius, the royal python or ball python, is one of several species in the python family. There are some python species that are larger, some are smaller, and some are much more aggressive than regius, but none of the others can begin to compare to this gentle-dispositioned and fabulous genetically diverse creature. It is no wonder that more and more collectors and breeders are seeking unique ball python pattern and color morphs as fast as they are hatched. And it is no wonder that more and more astute investors and motivated individuals seek quality breeder specimens to begin or expand their ball python breeding business. With the average clutch size of five eggs per breeding female per year, compared to nearly 200 eggs twice a year from other snake species, and with the huge diversity of possible genetic variations, it is easy to understand why the value of ball pythons exceeds that of all other snake species.
Quality
There are many excellent professional breeders in this business, and most are very generous with their knowledge about how to care for, breed and raise ball pythons. All of us who are concerned about quality, care deeply about our animals. At REGIUS PYTHONS we house our animals one per bin and maintain a strict regimen of cleanliness, feeding, and husbandry. Our animals live in rooms that are environmentally parallel to the ball python natural habitat in equitorial Africa, which means close monitoring of temperature and humidity. We ensure that our animals remain healthy and robust.
There are many people out there selling ball pythons, but not all are professional breeders. To guarantee that you are purchasing quality animals, know who you are doing business with! Talk to them on the telephone or by email--they should welcome your questions and concerns. They should be willing to help you out over the long term as you startup your business and have more questions. Be sure you are purchasing captive bred and captive born animals. Imported animals nearly always come with major health concerns including parasites and disease, or they have not been humanely treated during the importing process and therefore may not ever acclimate to your facility. Start and continue with high quality animals and your own success will become a reality.
